Over the weekend, my daughters had a dance convention just north of us, where they took classes and where my oldest daughter competed in a couple of dances. We booked a hotel near the hotel where the convention was because there was no time to return home and then drive all the way to the convention again. The hotel where the convention was, was booked by the time we decided we’d stay up there, but our hotel was only about a three minute drive away so that was nice. It was exhausting for husband because he did all the driving. I was tired because I couldn’t sleep. The girls enjoyed it and my oldest loved it so much she wished it had lasted longer. I’m so glad to know she loved it. In past conventions, she’d come home exhausted and miss school the next morning because she would be hurting all over from dancing.
I was surprised to see that my daughter’s dance group was used for the main photo/video page. It’s also on the entry to the gallery page. In the screenshot, my daughter is the farthest left.
Last week’s solo competition was flawless. I don’t usually get teary-eyed when I watch her perform but she had me wiping tears. She has grown so much but she is still my little girl. Photos were taken by a pro-photographer. I purchased them (they were pricey) and cleaned them up a little.
Over the weekend the family went to the International Evening of Dance up in Vail with the girls’ dance school. The families went separately and met up there. The event was a couple of weeks long and covered all kinds of dancing including hip hop, modern, and ballet. We only went for one day and I believe it was the second to the last day that we were there. Vail is about 3 hours from Denver and is known for it’s skiing during the winter season but I’ve learned that it is practically busy throughout all the seasons. It’s a very beautiful place but quite expensive.
We went to Vendetta’s for pizza then headed to the theater for the show. We all sat on the lawn because that’s what we could all afford as a big group but it turned out great because for such an amazing show (most of it was ballet) it was unbelievably cheap. One thing I personally loved was seeing all the twinkling stars in the night sky. At first, when the sun went down and the stars began to show, I thought it was pretty cool. I mean, that’s what a night sky looks like with stars of different sizes twinkling here and there. But then when it got completely dark and ALL the stars came out, it was complete grandeur. I’ve never seen a sky with so many twinkling stars. It was as if the sky was all glitter. You can say, I found myself more fascinated by the sky than the dances.
Recitals are here. I can’t believe how fast this dance year went by. I’ll post up more photos from the rehearsal once it’s all done but in the meantime, enjoy this one of my daughter doing her jump. I was told this performance was a last minute decision add-in to this show (there are quite a few shows) and we didn’t bring her costume.
My daughter really enjoyed this year’s dance competition. She said it went by too quickly. What she missed most was the friendship with her dance group…and the choreographers.
The photos below were taken by a professional.
I’m beyond proud of the hard work she put into the dances. 🙂
