I had fun this month with the camera. Enjoy these…
The family Keeshond, Teddy. She is the sweetest dog ever. She follows me everywhere and just plops down by my feet and sleeps. With husband, she’s a little different. She’ll wag her tail, jump on him, and want to play with him. Another thing about her, she won’t eat unless we’re eating.
The pink orchid. This is the second time it’s bloomed. I’ve only had it for a few a years.
My daughter stepped in to help me with the 52 Week Photo Challenge I’m keeping up with. This one called for long exposure so I set the D90 with the 50mm lens to the highest F-stop possible, which was 36, and the ISO to the lowest at L1.
I used Photoshop CS6 to create the first two layouts and the Project Life App to create the last two (which I have made smaller and put them side by side). The kits used in creating these layouts are: Project52, Kraft Edition, Plus One Mini Kit by Amy Tangerine, and Once Upon A Poppy by Sarah H. Graphics.
I created the above paper layout by following the steps from Wilna Furstenberg at Studiocalico.com. She used gel paint in her tutorial but I don’t have gel paint so I used what was available to me, which was, gel matte medium, and acrylic paints. The intricate die cut was created by Wilna as a freebie. I used the Silhouette Portrait to cut it out and then gently removed it from the mat with an exacto knife and a plastic scraper. It’s a little time consuming but it’s one gorgeous piece of die cut.
This layout was so much fun to make. I’ve never used paint on a scrapbook page like this so it was a really great learning experience.
Made a few Valentine cards to send to friends + other mailings, and a package for a swap. I’m really loving the Silhouette Portrait I received in a giveaway a year and a half ago. I’m surprised I’ve never really used it much for making cards. Actually, I haven’t used it as much as I’d like to. This year, I will tackle that goal. I’ve got a few ideas brewing. In the photo below, I added a little watercolor to the die cut envelope. Watercoloring is something I’ve tried my hands at here and there too with hopes to do more of it this year.
This was the most mail I’ve sent out in my life in one day. There were 8 items total! It feels great to give.
